Today, we started week two of summer camp and introduced our new theme, The Wild West. The Frogs started their day by exploring our new centers and getting settled in from the weekend. We sang our usual Good Morning Song and jumped right in to our new theme by reading Cowboy Camp by Tammi Sauer. We also learned our new song of the week Cowboy Dance by Brain Breaks.

The Cowboy Dance!
Our book taught us about what it takes to be a real cowboy but also that it is okay to be different. After reading our story, we completed a Bubble Map as a group. Then the Frogs completed a smaller version individually as a written language activity.
Miss. Lenna selecting volunteers to complete the Bubble Map.
Aarav and William completing bubble maps with pictures and writing.
After our bathroom and snack break, it was time for outdoor play.
The Frogs were very excited to be outside today.
Dylan and Grayson pointing at their hiding place.
Garrison made a garden in the sandbox.
After outside play, it was time for art. Today the Frogs cut out and decorated their own red boots, just like our main character in today's book, Avery.
Bobby, Austin, William, Nikhil, and Aarav completing their art.
Dylan, Chander, and Sparrow cutting out their boots.
After art was completed, we transitioned to science. Today we made a hypothesis to answer the question: "Do beans sprout better in water or oil?" After observing some sprouted beans, the Frogs came to the conclusion that water is better for beans. Next, we placed our own beans and wet cotton balls in plastic baggies. As the week goes on, we will revisit our beans and watch them grow!
Chander making an educated guess.
Austin, Bobby, Nikhil, and Aarav getting their beans ready for sprouting!
All the beans hung up and ready to sprout.
After art and science, it was time to explore our centers.

Chander, Nikhil, and Sparrow exploring the new transportation center.
Grayson and Olivia fishing for vocabulary fish.
Bobby really enjoyed the Cowboy Camp center.
After Center time, we finished our day by singing our favorite songs and doing our Cowboy Dance. Tomorrow we look forward to reading Charlie the Ranch Dog by Ree Drummond.
