Every Thursday of TSGI summer camp, your camper will receive a thematic extension packet. These activities are to be used at your discretion and do not need to be returned to camp. Use these activities in conjunction with review of the classroom BLOG to enhance your child’s language at home. Happy Learning!

Written Language
In the Fantastic Frogs classroom, we integrate visual
graphic organizers with our weekly theme or book of the day to address written
language skills. Use of the following graphic organizers will be modeled
through whole group instruction each week and campers will be encouraged to
complete an individual organizer as a written assignment following the whole
group lesson.
·
ALPHABOX- strategy to organize key words
based on beginning sounds
·
BUBBLE MAP- a diagram that depicts
relationships between words
·
VENN DIAGRAM- a visual tool used to
compare 2 concepts
·
STORY CHART- a visual organizer that
focuses on key literary elements
After our campers complete the graphic organizer,
they will be encouraged to use this information to create 4 star sentences. 4
Star Sentences have
1.) capital letter at the beginning
3.) good spacing
4.) make sense
Every Thursday, we will send the written language folders home. Please keep the papers in the "Keep at Home" pocket and send the folder back to camp on Monday. You are welcome work with your camper to complete any unfinished graphic organizers and encourage him/her to use these key words to write 4 star sentences. Through the course of summer camp, we will work to make completion of these activities more independent, mimicking what our campers are required to do in the school environment.
Happy Writing!
