9:00 - 9:10 - Arrival/Centers
Campers will enter the classroom and make a choice for what center they would like to take part in as various centers will be set up around the room. This interactive time promotes socialization among the children and assists with transitioning into the classroom setting.
9:10 - 9:30 - Welcome and Literacy Circle
The welcome circle will engage all campers in a whole group activity as we prepare to have a great day at camp! We will go over the calendar, give a weather update, and select our special helper of the day.
9:30 - 10:10 - Language Circle/ Written Language Activity
10:10 - 10:30 - Bathroom/Snack
During this time, the children will enjoy a snack as they sit around the table and converse with one another. If the children need help, they will be expected to use appropriate communication to request assistance. Verbal peer interaction will be modeled and prompted by the clinicians.
10:30 - 11:00 - Recess
The entire class will travel outside to the playground for a time of fun and friendly interaction among not only students in our class, but also with students from other TSGI classrooms.
11:00 - 11:20 - Art
During the art lesson each day, campers will use various supplies to assemble an art project focused around the book of the day. The children will be expected to listen attentively, follow directions, share craft supplies, and request missing items. They will create their very own masterpiece!
11:20 - 11:40 - Science
Science is an exciting time for our campers! They will predict, explore, observe, and record what happens as they actively take part in a science experiment. This will allow the children to interact with one another, comment on peer predictions, make educated decisions, and have fun while doing it all!
11:40 - 12:00 - Centers
Various centers will be set up around the room, and the campers will choose a center to participate in. This interactive time promotes socialization among the children and allows them to have a break from sitting attentively, while they are still engaged with peers and clinicians. Centers will be focused on an aspect associated with the theme of the week.
12:00 - 12:25 - Lunch
The campers will eat lunch as they sit around the table and converse with one another. If the children need help, they will be encouraged to use appropriate communication to request assistance. Conversation about the day’s activities will be elicited by the clinicians and expanded on by the children.
12:25 - 12:45 - Music and Closing Circle
At the end of each day, we will take this time to reflect on the fun day we have had at camp and talk about all the things we learned together. The children will be asked questions about the story, science experiment, and art project. Music and movement will end camp every day, as a way to promote socialization, body movement, and peer interaction, while awaiting parent arrival.
